“You better check out your sister’s Facebook page,” Mojo told me this morning. “There’s something posted there that will make you cry.”
Worried it was photos from my childhood, I looked at his computer. He was right, but not because it was about me. I remember those days in October 1985 when Michael J. Fox was driving his DeLorean around the shopping mall parking lot. And now January 4, 2013 had passed. Where did the time go?
Depressed, I wandered into the kitchen and laid my head on the table.
“Mom, can I make some hot chocolate?” Mark asked.
Chocolate! – the solver of all problems.
“Sure,” I said. “Use this chocolate. It is brand new.”
Our friends just returned from Switzerland and brought us back some chocolate. Opening the can, I realized this was no ordinary, American, powdered chocolate, where you rip open the pouch and pour into boiling water. This was Sprungli Swiss chocolate flakes.
The 16th century Spaniards did not find the gold they searched for in South America. But the Mayans taught them how to make xocolatl which was believed to restore health, fight fatigue and prevent fainting. After realizing I was now in Marty McFly’s future, no Hershey’s kisses for me, I needed the good stuff.
My sister had another photo on her Facebook. I agreed. As long as there is food for the Gods, the world will not end.
“Hey, get your hands out of my chocolate.”

Nice post… Loved seeing the date from Marty McFly… Just for a side note, my understanding of the interpretation of the Mayan calendar, is not that the world would end, but the world as we know it is now changing and shifting in a big way…

That’s why there is always more than one Oreo in a package!
And now they have DOUBLE stuff (fantastic – double the sweetness), Mint (Christmas all year round) and Golden (add a ray of sunshine to your day). Life keeps getting better and better.

I think I shared the Mayan-Oreo-cookie photo from April’s posting – so it does just go ’round and ’round! No worries then. My monkey-boy eats enough Oreos to keep the Gods satisfied for another go-round of the calendar (the 26,000 year Mayan one, that is).

Well, the Japanese have gotten much from the Chinese – like the 12 animal calendar and how to make paper – but they work it their own way – like pairing it with the symbolically pristine dawn of the First Day of the New Year (Land of the Rising Sun and all that) – and so here in Japan we start the new year on the 1st.
But really, I’m sure the Snakes don’t arrive til February 10th, so, yeah, you still have some time. I threw out 6 bags of trash and 8 bags of recycling just this week! Shedding it as fast as I can!

I am pleased, but it doesn’t solve the aging issue. 😦
My kids watched the movie recently and we discovered the 2015 date. You cannot trust anything or any photo on the internet any longer.
Still it made a good post.
